to enjoy fireworks safely?
fireworks

Barbecues, fireworks, family, and friends!
Keep injuries off the list of events for your July 4th celebration!

Plan. Create a plan for your family's fireworks celebrations.
  • Be sure that the fireworks you plan to use are both legal and safe. Check the Minnesota Department of Public Safety webpage for more information.
  • When viewing public aerial fireworks display, be sure to choose a safe place for you and your family to sit—at least 500 feet away from the staging area.
  • If alcohol is part of your celebration, designate a sober fireworks "shooter."
Prepare. Discuss fireworks safety with your family.

Practice. Discuss ways to be safe around fireworks with your family.
  • Always supervise children when around fireworks.
  • Wear proper clothing, shoes, and tie long hair back to prevent burns and injuries.
  • Avoid dry areas of grass when burning fireworks, sparklers, party poppers. Always have a bucket of water nearby. If any injury occurs, call 9-1-1 immediately.
Stay Informed. Check the websites below for further firework information.
