Learn the Risks (Winter Edition)

Knowing what winter may bring can help you and your family meet these winter challenges. Below is information to help you become more informed.

National Weather Service American Red Cross

As winter approaches and daylight wanes, cold, snowy weather is not far behind. The National Weather Service (their local office is right here in Carver County) is an excellent resource for winter weather information. For printable information, download their "Winter Storms... The Deceptive Killers" (.pdf) brochure. The Red Cross also has information on winter weather preparedness.

The National Weather Service is also a great resource for up-to-date information on weather watches, warnings and related information. The National Weather Service offers users of PDAs and cell phones with internet capabilities access to current weather conditions. People with Blackberries or similar devices can enter mobile.srh.weather.gov for weather information. If you have a cell phone, enter cell.srh.weather.gov into the web browser on your phone.

Information during severe weather is available on other media sources as well. WCCO radio at 830 on the AM dial of your radio is a good source for live updates during severe weather. WCCO, KSTP, KMSP or KARE TV stations are good sources for severe weather coverage as well.
